Luang Phor Tim - Phra Somdej Amulets

Phra Somdej amulets are often referred to as the “Emperor of Thai Amulets” the most famous of which are of course those blessed by Somdej Phra Buddhacharn Toh Promrungsi during the reign of King Rama IV to King Rama V.

Luang Phor Tim Isarigo, is also recognized as one Thailand's most famous creators of such amulets. He made as many as eight different pims; some of which are well known, others not so. We intend to look at each of these amulets over the course of the next few months and where possible add examples to our website for sale. (we can help you build up the complete collection)

Phra Somdej of Wat Kutngong ( Pim Yai & Pim Lek)

 Phra Somdej - Wat Kutngong

Wat Kutngongpatumkongka, or shortly called “Wat Kutngong”, was built on 9 rai 20 talangwa of land in B.E.2390.

(Note: 1 rai equals to 2.5 acres, 1 talangwa equals to 2 x 2 meters or 4 square meters)

Luang Phor Praplad Boon, the creator of the temple, also built another temple called Wat Huaysuk. Wat Kutngong was officially registered as a legal temple on November 8, B.E.2514.

It was also recorded that during the administration of Wat Kutngong, the ninth abbot built a new Buddhist temple in B.E.2519 and the temple remains today.

Luang Phor Tim’s heritage

Actually Luang Phor Tim had planned to create the Phra Somdej Lang Yandang (Chinbunchorn) amulet before he created any other version. But it is known that it was quite difficult to create and as such the 1st to the 4th versions were created first.

It is believed that there are no more than 500 pieces of the Phra Somdej Kutngong amulets in existence, each engraved with a sacred spell on the reverse. This makes them incredibly rare, and much sought after.

The Phra Somdej amulet from this temple are known to exist in a variety of sizes, all of them created and blessed by Luang Phor Tim in BE 2517. All these amulets are made from Phong Plaai Guman powder in exactly the same way as the Somdej amulets released by Wat Lahanrai during the same year.

The amulet above is for sale

After these amulets were created, they were returned to the temple a few months after October 16th BE 2518, as Luang Phor Tim unfortunately had passed away.

The temple had miss-understood the amulets, believing that they had not been blessed as some pims had the date BE 2519 stamped on the front, the date which they were due to be released.

Finally the temple did release these amulets, and a sacred ceremony was held in BE 2518. The amulets were given away to worshippers. If you are lucky enough to be able to obtain one of these amulets we suggest you hold onto it. All Luang Phor Tim's amulets are incredibly valuable, many now reaching hundreds of thousands of Baht.
